Delta Moon at The Local

By Jon Waterhouse
Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Add a rocking, electrified jolt to Mississippi blues with a mountain music moonshine chaser and you have the well respected Delta Moon in a nutshell. It’s fronted by seasoned songwriter Tom Gray, who longtime Atlantans may remember from old-school New Wave act The Brains. Gray’s songs have been recorded by the likes of Cyndi Lauper, Manfred Mann and Carlene Carter. But Gray and the rest of Delta Moon are currently getting some props of their own. In late October, its album “Hell Bound Train” made it on the first round of ballots for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in the best contemporary blues album category. And fans of the TV show “Army Wives” may have caught the disc’s title track on the season finale back in August.

9 p.m. Nov. 26. $10. The Local at Sidelines, 1440 Roswell Road, Marietta. 770-509-3320.
